Ohio GOP Chair Resigns County Elections Board

Secretary of State Jennifer Bunner has sent a letter to Ohio Republican leader Bob Bennett thanking him for his resignation from the Cuyahoga County elections board and dismissed her complaint against him without a finding of fault.

Brunner says Bennett’s decision to resign from the Cuyahoga County elections board chairman allows a new board to move ahead with its plans. Bennett agreed to step today, ending his fight with Brunner’s March 19th order for the board’s four members resign or be fired. A removal hearing was planned Monday in suburban Euclid.

Bennett says he knows remaining on the board would be tough given his difficult situation with Brunner, who suspended Bennett last week. Brunner has accused the panel of shoddy work.
