State Seeks Resignations of Cuyahoga Elections Board

Ohio Secretary of State Jennifer Brunner wants all four members of the Cuyahoga County elections board to resign by Wednesday.

The state’s largest county has had plenty of trouble with its elections over the last few years. It had difficulty adjusting to electronic voting and last week a judge sentenced two elections workers to 18 months in prison for rigging a recount of the 2004 presidential election.

The recently-elected Brunner said Monday that her decision was based on her pledge to restore trust to elections in Ohio.

Brunner made calls to the four board members last night. They are chairman Robert Bennett and Sally Florkiewicz, both Republicans, and Democrats Edward Coaxum Junior and Loree Soggs.
