But now Voinovich and six other Republicans are trying to force a vote on the measure.
Last year, Ohio legislators passed a new law requiring all public schools to display copies of the state and federal mottoes With God, All Things Are Possible and In God We Trust. The posters with the mottoes may not be paid for by taxpayer money. Instead, they must be donated by outside groups. How many schools are displaying the mottoes?
The United Way of Central Ohio is conducting an on-line census of the Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual and Transgender community. The United Way placed ads asking people to visit its website to take the survey. The United Way’s Kermit Whitfield said groups like Stonewall Columbus and the city’s AIDS Task Force felt there was not enough knowledge about the GLBT population.
