Tax Refund for Ohio Phone Users
The Ohio Consumers Counsel is alerting telephone users to a one-time rebate available via tax returns.
Counsel spokesman Ryan Lippe says federal officials decided refunds would be available on taxes paid on long distance service between March of 2003 and July of last year.
The flat amount refunds are based on the number of exemptions claimed on federal tax forms. The other option is locating 41 months of phone bills and tallying the long distance taxes. Lippe says the refund applies to cell phones as well as land lines.
