Indiana-based artist Tasha Lewis transforms the Conservatory’s gallery with thousands of magnetic cyanotype butterflies printed on cotton fabric. Her blue butterflies hover in mid-air and seem to swarm the space, blurring the connection between the natural and artificial worlds.
Ohio Legislature to Eliminate Local Gun Laws
The Ohio Senate has joined the House in overriding Governor Taft’s veto of a bill that wipes out local gun laws. The vote marks the the first time in 29 years that the Ohio Legislature has rejected a governor’s veto.
The G-O-P-led Senate Tuesday voted 21-to-12 in favor of the override, following similar action by the House last week.
Republican Taft has said the gun bill goes too far in trying to clean up the state’s concealed weapons law. The measure pre-empts local gun laws, including assault-weapons bans on the books in the state’s largest cities.
Attorney general-elect Marc Dann of Youngstown was one of three Democratic senators voting in favor of the override. He says having contradictory gun laws all over the state makes no sense.
