95 percent of ancient Ohio was forested. But centuries ago there were also small regions of prairie. Tall grasses and wildflowers were part of the prairie ecology and so were bison. Researchers near Columbus are trying to reestablish a prairie / bison ecosystem.

According to an economic analysis, the addition of streetcars to downtown Columbus could mean a financial boost for the city. The report by the Danter Group was released today to members of the Downtown Streetcar Working Group. It predicts that streetcars could generate a half-billion dollars in growth.
Ohio is awash in politics this fall as the Republican party works to hold onto majorities at the statehouse and in congress. Democrats are working just as hard to gain more political clout in Columbus and Washington. While most votes will come from urban and suburban areas on November 7th, rural Ohio counties could play political king-maker, especially in close races.
