A federal judge on Tuesday sentenced a GOP fundraiser at the center of an Ohio political scandal to two years and three months in prison for illegally funneling $45,000 to President Bush’s re-election campaign.
Republicans who dominate the Ohio Legislature plan to launch committee hearings today on a bill to crackdown on illegal immigrants. Legislative leaders hope to get final approval for the plan by the end of the year .but advocates for Hispanics are already vowing to challenge the measure in court, if it becomes law.
