Ohio’s superintendent says the state won’t withhold funding to penalize schools for students opting out of standardized tests this year.

The city of Columbus’ Department of Recreation and Parks is meeting in hopes of passing an ordinance requiring dog owners to keep their pet on a leash in most city parks. If the ordinance is passed, the city will then build dog-specific parks around the city. While many dog owners say the ordinance and new parks are unnecessary, city officials say the changes will make Columbus a model for cities across the country.
