Justice Department Alleges $3 Billion Fraud Scheme

A federal grand jury in Columbus has indicted 7 former executives of National Century Financial Enterprises.

NCFE collapsed in 2002. It had been based in Dublin and billed itself as the nation’s leading supplier of working capital to the medical industry.

U.S. Attorney Gregory Lockhart says in a Department of Justice release that company executives bilked investors by “building a financial house of cards.”

The 60 count indictment charges conspiracy along with securities, wire and mail fraud and money laundering. It seeks about 2-billion dollars in forfeiture of property involved in the money laundering conspiracy allegation.
