Union workers at Columbus’ Delphi plant hold a strike vote
Unionized Delphi workers in Columbus are taking a strike authorization vote today as a bankruptcy judge in New York decides whether the company can cancel contracts with the union. The company says it must have the right to cancel its labor contracts in order to survive. The union argues that allowing Delphi to cancel contracts would allow the company to force workers to take big wage cuts and fewer benefits. The judge is expected to rule in several weeks. Delphi employs more than 700 workers at a Georgesville Road plant in Columbus.
