95 percent of ancient Ohio was forested. But centuries ago there were also small regions of prairie. Tall grasses and wildflowers were part of the prairie ecology and so were bison. Researchers near Columbus are trying to reestablish a prairie / bison ecosystem.

The animal rights group PETA is asking Ohio State University to remove eight chimpanzees from a Texas sanctuary. The university sent nine chimps to Primarily Primates in February over the objections of OSU researcher and psychology professor Sally Boysen. The death of one of the chimps heightened concern over the others’ well being
