The federal government recommends demolishing over 200 buildings at the site of a former Cold War-era uranium plant in southern Ohio.
Nationwide building plans move forward
Nationwide is planning to put in a new office building at the entrance to the Arena Grand parking garage. Downtown Development Administrator, Bob McLaughlin, says this project will make the downtown area more appealing to prospective builders.
Having an arena district that has that type of office space available just expands the office opportunities for downtown, and makes downtown more attractive to a greater diversity of employers.
McLaughlin says the 130-thousand square foot office building could house up to 800 employees. He says it’s unclear at this time if that will be all new employees or if some will come from other offices on High Street. Nationwide is expected to go before the city council again in November. McLaughlin says if the council formally approves the project at that time construction could begin in early spring.
