The Biological Sciences Greenhouse at OSU has been fortunate to have multiple bloomings of the Titan Arum, aka, the corpse flower. They have its smaller but also smelly cousin, the Voodoo Lily. From its bruise-colored bloom that resembles a corpse, to its stench of rotting flesh, this tropical flower masks its beauty to attract its pollinators.

New Orleans Universities are all closed indefinitely and urge their students to enroll at other schools. Here in Ohio, colleges and universities are preparing to help the displaced students find new classrooms.
Governor Taft has ordered 1,500 Ohio National Guard troops to help provide security and aid rescue and recovery efforts in hurricane-stricken Alabama, Mississippi and Louisiana.
Police say recent immigrants to Central Ohio speak 59 different languages. Language and cultural barriers continue to be a problem for police as they try to help people and investigate crimes. Yesterday, many law enforcement officials met to find ways to break down that language barrier.
