A Marine Reserve Unit based in Columbus today is preparing for funerals following combat deaths during a major U-S offensive in Iraq. The infantry squad took casualties while participating in “Operation Matador” aimed at rooting out insurgents in western Iraq.
The Defense Supply Center Columbus has been saved in the latest round of base closings. A spokesman for Ohio congresswoman Deborah Pryce says DSCC will not only remain open, but will add jobs. John McClelland says indications are DSCC will add about 1,700 jobs.
