Trooper cleared in I-71 shooting
A Delaware County grand jury has exonerated an Ohio State Highway Patrol trooper who fatally shot Ebrahiem Williams when Williams allegedly rushed at him with a hatchet.
According to a release from the Delaware County Prosecutor’s office, witnesses told investigators that Williams, who was from South Euclid, was ramming vehicles on I-71 on March 16th when Trooper Anh Nguyen arrived.
Witnesses said Williams drove his truck off the highway, got out and ignored commands to show his hands. Trooper Nguyen fired when Williams was about 10 to 12 feet away from him. Eight witnesses testified before the grand jury.
