Charges filed in second grader shooting
Columbus police have charged 24-year-old Quinzell Mack with negligent assault in connection with last Monday’s shooting of a second grade student at Leawood Elementary School. Mack is the brother of the seven year old boy who was injured in the hand when a gun went off in his book bag. Police say the child told them he found the gun while walking to the school. Authorities say further investigation indicates the boy found the gun under a sofa in the Elaine Road apartment he shares with Mack. The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco & Firearms traced the .45-caliber, semi-automatic handgun from a gun shop in Reynoldsburg to an owner in Dublin who sold it to a pawn shop in Whitehall where it was purchased in October of 2003, allegedly by Mack.
