The quality of police training academies in Ohio and the need for stronger statewide training standards are among the issues an attorney general’s committee is considering as it explores possible changes to the way Ohio trains police officers.
Worthington soldier killed in Iraq
A central Ohio soldier has been killed while fighting in Iraq.
The US Defense Department says today that Army Private First Class Harrison Meyer was killed Friday in Ramadi, Iraq, when his unit was hit with small arms fire.
The 20-year-old was from the Columbus suburb of Worthington. He graduated from Thomas Worthington High School in 2003 where he was a member of the track team.
He was assigned to the Second Brigade combat team of the First Battalion-503rd Infantry Regiment.
The air assault unit is based in South Korea.
