Reports: OSU picks Xavier’s Thad Matta
Ohio State University reportedly has a new men’s basketball coach. Reports indicate Xavier coach Thad Matta has accepted the university’s offer to succeed fired coach Jim O’brien.
The Columbus Dispatch reports OSU made the decision Wednesday afternoon after Matta interviewed with athletics department officials and OSU president Karen Holbrook Wednesday morning.
Matta, who last week, denied he was candidate for the job, is coming off a very successful season at Xavier. He coached Xavier to 26 wins and a spot in the NCAA tournament’s regional finals.
