Role of the Judicial Branch of the Government
Robert R. Cupp – Justice, Ohio Supreme Court – answers the question: What is the role of the judicial branch in government?
In the United States, the state supreme court is the highest state court in the state court system.
The state supreme court is exclusively for hearing appeals of legal issues. It does not make any finding of facts, and thus holds no trials. The court consists of a panel of judges selected by methods outlined in the state constitution.
