No Changes To Tax Reform, Seniors Property Tax Exemption

Governor Ted Strickland says no changes to tax cuts which began in 2005. Some have said those tax cuts are partly responsible for the deficit the state now faces.

The governor also promised to leave in place property tax exemptions for seniors.

    A senior tax exemption is positive for struggling seniors. However, a well-off senior having +$50,000 in income paying less property tax than a struggling family of four making $35,000/hr is an unfair shift of the tax burden. Particularly given the huge debt and social liability we are heaping on the future generations.
