Former Ohio Secretary of State and candidate for Governor Ken Blackwell will be a guest on 89.7FM’s All Sides with Ann Fisher this morning. He’ll hear his take on the current state of conservatism and Ann will ask him if he will challenge US Senator Sherrod Brown. It’s unlikely he’ll give us a yes or no, but she’ll ask anyway. Senate OK’s Budget
The state budget process is entering its final stage. The Ohio Senate passed the $112 billion two-year spending plan last night. It, like the Ohio House, made significant cuts to local governments, local schools, nursing homes and other areas. A house-senate conference committee now will negotiate the relatively minor differences. Dispatch reporter and Columbus on the Record Panelist Jim Siegel sums up the senate’s plan.
Politifact Ohio – State Budget Actually Increases State Spending
For all the calls and praise for deep cuts and tough choices to reign in government spending, former Ohio House Speaker Armond Budish claims the Kasich budget represents the second largest spending increase in state history. The fact checking Politifact Ohio says the claim is “mostly true.”
