Reynoldsburg’s latest offer to its teachers is getting a lot of attention. The city’s school board would replace automatic teacher raises with merit pay and bonuses. And it would replace the district’s health insurance plan with individual cash payments. The plan has caught the attention of labor experts, school administrators and teachers unions.
Making It Work
A forum organized with funding from the Small Business Administration to the Ohio Educational Television Stations under the project, Ohio Ready to Work.
The assembly that gathered for the forum addressed issues surrounding workforce development and putting people to work. The panel tackled big issues; including transportation, job placement for the hard-to-employ, and specialized post-secondary training for workers who do not need college degrees to earn a living wage.
