While this time of year is a natural time for all of us to spread some good will, anytime is a good time to make someone’s day better. Last week, I wrote about the Philadelphia Opera Company bringing Handel’s Hallelujah Chorus to a crowded Downtown Macy’s.

John Rittmeyer followed that with one he found featuring Verdi’s Brindisi. Both of those were in Philadelphia, but the Random Acts of Culture are showing up in many places…Charlotte NC, San Jose CA, Macon GA, Akron, St. Paul, Miami, Detroit.

Maybe your community could use a Random Act of Culture. Knightarts.org has information about how they are funding these in communities across the country, but maybe your Random Act could be getting a recording for someone who can’t get to the library, helping someone get to a music service or performance you know of, or maybe arranging for your choir or music group to perform at various retirement communities or hospitals in the area.  It doesn’t have to be huge to be much appreciated…and in today’s world, we could all use a little something to lift our spirits.  Here is a bit of culture which showed up in Charlotte.
