World’s Largest Pipe Organ Can Be Found Underground
You don’t need to be a fan of Underground Rock to enjoy music performed on underground rocks – specifically, the appropriately named Stalacpipe Organ in the Luray Caverns in Luray, Virginia.
The Stalacpipe Organ uses the natural ringing and resonance of the stalactites, which cover 3 1/2 acres in the surrounding caverns, to play everything from classical selections and traditional favorites to music written specifically for the instrument.
Queen of the Wave features unique instruments and equipment such as “The Great Stalacpipe Organ” (the largest musical instrument in the world), Edison’s “Ghost Machine”, Professor A.D. Conrow’s “Psychical Predictor” and a 500 000 volt Tesla Coil Synthesizer.
More on this subterranean instrument can be found here.
