Verdi for Guitar and Asturias on Next Fretworks
Our next Fretworks program Saturday evening at 7 will include music from opera arranged for classical guitar. Â The Fantasy on Themes From Verdi’s La Traviata by Spanish composer Francisco Tarrega. Â We’ll hear from the International Mandolin Academy Orchestra as well, The Pro Arte Guitar Trio will play their arrangement of Bachianas brasilieras No. 4 by Brazilian composer Heitor Villa-Lobos.
Pepe Romero will perform an adagio for violin and orchestra by Mozart arranged for guitar with the Academy of St. Martin-in-the-Fields, and Franco Platino has the Sonatina Meridional, written in 1932 for Andres Segovia by Manuel Ponce.
To conclude, the exciting young guitarist from Montenegro, Milos Karadaglic will play Asturias by Issac Albeniz. Â Tune in Saturday evening at 7 on Classical 101.
