Small Town, Big City This Saturday on The American Sound
There’s nothing like America’s small towns, old-timey main streets, a relaxed pace of life and families who’ve been neighbors for generations.
But there’s also nothing quite like the exhilaration of America’s big cities, the adrenaline rush of the Big Apple, the ease and beauty of San Francisco and Chicago’s Midwestern sturdiness.
Saturday on The American Sound we’ll take a musical tour of America’s small towns and big cities. We’ll get a gorgeous glimpse of small-town life with Samuel Barber’s Knoxville: Summer of 1915, we’ll go to Cincy with Boston Boy Leroy Anderson’s Piano Concerto and we’ll hear a New England Country Band March by Charles Ives. And as we wander among America’s small towns and big cities, we’ll hear a stunning performance of the traditional American tune Wayfaring Stranger.
Join me for small towns and big cities on The American Sound, Saturday at 6 pm on Classical 101!
