Osmo Vanska Resigns From the Minnesota Orchestra
The music director of the Minnesota Orchestra, Osmo Vanska, resigned on Tuesday amid the ongoing disputes between the orchestra and its management. For the whole story read the The New York Times.
With Vamska at the helm, the Minnesota Orchestra has attained new heights of artistic distinction. The Finnish conductor is especially appreciated for his interpretations of Nordic music, including that of fellow countryman Jean Sibelius. Apparently, it was the cancellation of planned concerts at Carnegie Hall this season that drove him to his decision to resign. Music of Sibelius was to have been featured, and he was particularly looking forward to present his music with the orchestra.
