Orpheus Chamber Orchestra Celebrates 40th Anniversary
On Symphony @ 7 this week, in addition to our featured work each evening, we’ve been presenting recordings by the Orpheus Chamber Orchestra to recognize their 40th anniversary season.Â They were founded in 1972 and have recorded 70 albums.Â They are recognized internationally as one of the great chamber orchestras in the world.Â Based in New York City, they began with the idea of playing orchestral works with chamber music methods.Â They have no conductor but rotate leaders for particular pieces they’re going to perform.
