Music from England, France, Germany, and Italy on Next Fretworks

On the next Fretworks broadcast Saturday evening at 7, we will feature music from European countries other than Spain for the second week of “International Guitar Month.”  Music from that country got the whole hour last week for its importance in the history of the modern classical guitar.  Now,  we’re on to music from England, France, Germany, and Italy.

Our program is not a historical survey but more simply, music from those countries that is very enjoyable and that classical guitarists perform today.  We’ll hear from the Los Angeles Guitar Quartet, John Williams, Pepe Romero, the Assad Duo, and Timo Korhonen.  They’ll be playing music by Thomas Morley, Jean-Philippe Rameau, J.S. Bach, a guitar concerto by Francesco Molino, and most surprisingly perhaps, we’ll hear some Wagner arranged for guitar.

Join me Saturday at 7pm as we continue our international tour of music for the classical guitar.  Next week, we’re on to Latin America and then for the final week of April, music from North America.
