Mozart Sonata on Guitar for Next Fretworks

This Saturday evening at 7 on Classical 101, guitarist Paul Galbraith will be featured performing his arrangement of a Mozart piano sonata on his 8-string guitar.  Another arrangement not heard often will be Vivaldi’s Lute Concerto in D performed by the Philadelphia Guitar Trio.  That piece is most often heard with guitar and orchestra.

David Russell plays solo guitar music of Paraguayan composer-guitarist Agustin Barrios from his CD “Sonidos Latinos: Guitar Music of Latin America.”  Milos Karadaglic will be heard in arrangements for guitar and orchestra of music by Argentinian composer Astor Piazzolla from his most recent recording, “Pasion.”

Guitarist Eliot Fisk has a grand piece to conclude the hour by combining music from two works.  Both Beethoven and Paganini wrote a set of variations on a theme by Giovanni Paisiello, and Fisk turned these into a single piece lasting some eleven minutes.
