This Saturday evening at 7 on Fretworks, we’ll hear part two of our visit with guitarist Jordan Dodson recorded last November when he was in Columbus.  He’ll perform a bravura virtuoso showpiece by the 19th century guitarist-composer Giulio Regondi.

Also, a recurring theme on the rest of the show will be arrangements of pieces not originally written for the instrument.  The Rondo in C for Violin and Orchestra by Mozart will be heard with guitarist Pepe Romero and the Academy of St. Martin-in-the-Fields.  The Amsterdam Guitar Trio will play an arrangement of Gabriel Faure’s Dolly Suite.  John Williams will play excerpts from Manuel de Falla’s ballet The Three-Cornered Hat and some Scott Joplin as well.

We’ll also have time for guitarist Nick Goluses and Three Epitafios by Mikis Theodorakis, who is probably best known to us for his music to the 1964 film Zorba the Greek, starring Anthony Quinn.

Join me for an hour of music for the classical guitar Saturdays at 7pm on Fretworks on Classical 101.
