Certain movie scenes can become bigger than the movie itself. Â There are two scenes in the movie Big, starring Tom Hanks, which stand out for me.
One was Hanks at a cocktail party eating pickled baby corn like corn on the cob. Â The other is Tom Hanks and Robert Loggia playing Chopsticks and Heart and Soul on the giant piano at FAO Schwarz toy store.
That keyboard is still a huge draw today. Â Now, if you work in their toy department, you will most likely be asked to play that piano. Â However, it has expanded beyond those two pieces. Â Now you had better know your Bach, Beethoven, and Liszt, too.
Tom Hanks and Robert Loggia wasn’t the first duo to draw a department store crowd with a piano duet. Â Harpo and Chico Marx did it in 1941 in The Big Store.
You can see that scene below.
So with a little fancy footwork, you, too, can play Bach, Beethoven, and more…not to mention get a little cardio workout!
