Sleigh Ride by Leroy Anderson Is As Much a Part of the Holiday Season As snow and St. Nick.

Many arrangements have been done over the years, but this version may be my favorite. John Eidsvoog arranged the Anderson classic for solo piano in 7/8 time.  Shades of Scott Joplin!

Aging Pianist “Discovered” in Buffalo, NY Nursing Home Makes Recording

Boyd Lee Dunlop is in his 80s and living in a nursing home in Buffalo, NY.  Days can pass very slowly in a place such as that, unless you find ways to occupy your time.  Mr. Dunlop found an old upright piano pushed off into a forgotten corner and began to bring it back to life.  Now, others can share his love for jazz.

St. Paul Chamber Orchestra to Get New Home

If you build it, they will come…at least that’s what the St. Paul Chamber Orchestra hopes.  The Ordway Center announced Thursday that four arts groups will work together to fund a 56,000-square-foot expansion of that arts venue.  Not only will it create a primary home for the St. Paul Chamber Orchestra, it will give the SPCO acoustics that fit them better than the cavernous hall in which they currently perform.
