Jacqueline du Pré Performs Elgar

She was a once-in-a-blue-moon talent, a gifted musician felled tragically young by multiple sclerosis. But even today English cellist Jacqueline du Pré’s performances set the standard for technical command and artistic depth.

In the video above, du Pré gives a landmark performance of the first movement of Edward Elgar’s Cello Concerto, conducted by her then-husband, Daniel Barenboim.
