Well-known composers seem to most always be assigned certain traits.  Beethoven was unhappy and Mozart was something of a buffoon are common ones.  Some have called Wagner arrogant and Debussy a womanizer.  There is some truth in each of those statements, but they all over-simplify very complex people.
