Getty Donation, Opera Production Raise Questions

The Welsh National Opera has come under scrutiny for funding a production of Gordon Getty’s Usher House with part of a $2 million gift from the Getty family, according to BBC News.

The Getty family donation will fund a series of productions of new operas, including the one by Gordon Getty. Welsh National Opera artistic director David Poultney has called the decision to include Getty’s Usher House among them  purely an “artistic,”  and has said that it was noted conductor Lawrence Foster who encouraged him to hear Getty’s opera.
