Local Students Perform on From the Top

Based in Boston, From the Top is an independent non-profit organization that celebrates the power of music in the hands of extraordinary young people, three of whom are from right here in Central Ohio and recently featured on the program!

Taped at the Jeanne B. McCoy Community Center for the Arts in New Albany, Ohio on March 8, 2013. The show will air in Sunday, May 19 at 7 pm on Classical 101.

Audrey Watkins

Audrey Watkins, 17, is from Worthington. Audrey studies flute with Lea Pearson and currently attends Interlochen Arts Academy in Michigan. She plays in her school band and has participated in a trio in the Chamber Music Connection. A profile of Watkins by Boyce Lancaster will be published on Classical 101′s blog on May 14.

The Mittelpunkt Duo

The Mittelpunkt Duo is from the Chamber Music Connection in Worthington, Ohio. Its members are 17-year-old mezzo-soprano Michaella Cipriani from Westerville, and 18-year-old violist Eva Kennedy from Worthington. Along with other Chamber Music Connection performers, they volunteer to play at the Columbus Homeless Families Foundation.

Cipriani, a senior at Columbus Academy, has received awards from Opera Columbus and the New Albany Symphony for her work. She studies with Robin Rice. A profile of Watkins by Christopher Purdy will be published on Classical 101′s blog on May 15.

This is mark Kennedy’s third appearance on From The Top studies with Deborah Price who also coaches the duo. She is a senior at Thomas Worthington High School and intends to pursue a career performing with a professional string quartet. At the time of the From the Top taping, Kennedy was finishing her college auditions. A profile of Watkins by Jennifer Hambrick will be published on Classical 101′s blog on May 16.
