For its post-season fundraiser, the Columbus Guitar Society is presenting Artyom Dervoed for “The Russian Guitar.”  The concert takes place at Capital University’s Huntington Recital Hall in Bexley at 8pm, Saturday June, 22.

Considered one of the best Russian guitarists, Dervoed, who was born in 1981, has performed around the world, including Japan, Germany, Spain, Italy, and the United States.  The French press named him the “Tsar of the Guitar.”  Well established guitarists such as Norbert Kraft have described him as an “artist of the highest caliber.”

Dervoed has a CD on the Naxos label devoted to Russian music for the guitar, so he’s sure to include some of those pieces that may be new to our ears, as well as performing works from the standard Spanish classical guitar repertoire.

In New York, he’s played at Carnegie Recital Hall. Saturday evening in Bexley at Capital University, Dervoed is sure to bring some exciting sounds to the audience for “The Russian Guitar.”
