Classical Music Rids British Pedestrian Tunnel of Vandalism
Here’s a new twist on the old classical-music-deters-thugs canard.
Officials for the British town of Kent have noticed that their only pedestrian tunnel with piped-in classical music also is the only tunnel with no graffiti or other signs of vandalism, according to BBC News.
Civic leader Jeremy Kite says the graffiti-free tunnel is bucking a trend:
We weren’t getting any of the anticipated graffiti and none of the damage you’d normally expect in an urban tunnel.
Kite also said that the cost of installing the music system and completing some other renovations in the tunnel was “money well spent.”
