Classical Music Finds Fans on Innovative Concert Series
Live classical music performances have found a fun and funky foothold in bars and other casual venues around the U.S. and around the world. Now one U.S. organization is on a mission to bring classical music to special populations in concerts at relaxed locations.
The Philadelphia-based LiveConnections offers three series of live musical performances, each aimed at putting on classical music concerts by top-flight artists in casual venues and bringing music to urban youth, people with special needs and under-served populations in remote areas.
LiveConnections’ Bridge Sessions brings interactive live performances of classical and other genres of music before urban youth and adults with special needs. The ClassicAlive series takes classical chamber music into the informal music and dining venue World Cafe Live. And LiveStudio broadcasts live musical performances via World Cafe Live’s video studios to under-served audiences in remote areas.
What do yo think: should central Ohio have an organization like LiveConnections?
