BalletMet’s Edwaard Liang on Classical 101 Thursday @ 9AM
Liang, who is in his first season with BalletMet, offers the World Premiere of Heaven & Earth, in which the dancers will perform with live accompaniment from two grand pianos onstage, featuring Caroline Hong, noted piano soloist and a piano faculty member of The Ohio State University School of Music and BalletMet Music Director Tyrone Boyle. Â (You can hear him play some of the Rachmaninoff below)
Along with the World Premiere by Edwaard Liang, there are two Columbus premieres on the program. Â One of them, Carousel (A Dance), again features the two pianos, this time off stage. Â Caroline Hong joins Tyrone Boyle performing Boyle’s arrangement of music from Richard Rodgers’ timeless Broadway score.
Be sure to tune in at 9 am Thursday for music and conversation with BalletMet Artistic Director Edwaard Liang on Classical 101.  You can learn a little bit about him in a conversation with Jackie Shafer from WOSU-TV’s Broad and High above.
“Music is essential for this communication, and in each of these works, you’ll see and feel how the music inspires dance and how, in turn, dance interprets and gives meaning to the music.† Edwaard Liang
