The Refectory Jazzes Up Columbus With Special Menus, Events

| July 16, 2014 | 0 Comments

We all know the Refectory. With owner Kamal Boulos and Chef Richard Blondin, the Refectory has been considered by many to be the best restaurant in Central Ohio for 37 years, and the only AAA four-diamond restaurant in Ohio. We know that the Refectory’s wine list is among the best in the Midwest.

But you may not know about the exciting menus and special events at the Refectory.

Bistro Menu

Quite possibly the best value in Columbus for the quality of food and price, the bistro menu in the lounge or on the patio offers a choice for each of three courses, appetizer, entree, and dessert, for only $23.95. Check the website for the menu, which changes weekly and available times.

The Refectory offers special dinners with local jazz or classical groups. We enjoyed a jazz dinner with a three piece comba and a menu featuring a duet of beef medallion and lamb tenderloin. Check out the Chamber Music Series, featuring Pro Musica.

Wine Tastings

The Refectory offers regular wine tastings, including the wildly popular “10 for $10″ events. We recently attended a tasting of 10 French wines, five priced at $10 and five over $20, with artisan breads for only $10.

Wine dinners, featuring world famous wine makers are another popular event. We attended a Triumph Cellars dinner featuring owner Roger Louer and with a menu by Certified Master Chef Hartmut Handke. The dinner included duck consomme in pastry, fresh Oregon morels with capellini, braised veal, phyllo-wrapped Ohio goat cheese, spring greens, white and dark chocolate terrrne, and six wines. All for the unbelievable price of $65!

And then there is the “Champagne Celebration” from August 4 – 30 with state minimum retail prices for champagne by the glass or bottle.

Check the Refectory website for more special events, or better yet join their email guest list for advance notice on all events.
