The corset has had a long and tumultuous history that dates back centuries. Intended to support the bust, improve posture and define a woman’s waist, the constrictive laced bodice fell out of fashion after World War I as the role of women in society changed and fashion trends became more practical and comfortable. But these days in the Olde Towne East neighborhood of Columbus, designer Larissa Boiwka has made it her business to bring this stiff undergarment out from under the shadows of confinement and give it a chance to sparkle on the outside.
