An expanded segment from Columbus Neighborhoods: Downtown & Franklinton.

It’s a time of year to reflect on the people who inspire us. We want you to meet the man who inspired all of Columbus — from politicians to streetcar workers — to reach out to one another in friendship. Washington Gladden was a religious leader committed to social justice, and he called on city leaders to treat every citizen fairly in the age of industrialization. From our producers of Columbus Neighborhoods we bring you an extended look at the “first citizen” of the capital city.
