Fresh Artists

From WHYY in Philadelphia

In response to decreased funding and cuts in academic arts programming, a group of Philadelphia art teachers formed Fresh Artists, a non-profit organization that introduces students to art-making and philanthropy. Children create and then donate pieces of artwork, which are then given as tokens of thanks to those who invest money into the inner-city school system.

One art teacher collaborated with Fresh Artists to create a program called Fresh Palates to Palettes, which allows students from disadvantaged neighborhoods to experience firsthand the relationship between fine art and culinary art.
