Our next Fretworks program on Classical 101 will feature the Concierto Madrigal by Spanish composer Joaquin Rodrigo. It’s a concerto for two guitars, not quite as well-known as the more famous Concierto de Aranjuez. The Concierto Madrigal was written in the form of a suite and is based on the Renaissance madrigal “Felices ojos mios” (Happy Eyes of Mine).

WOSU theater critic Joy Reilly talks with Columbus Symphony violinist Leonid Polonsky about his musical family’s concert being held January 2, 3pm, at Weigel Hall.
The Polonsky family includes: Pianist Nina Polonsky, violinist Leonid Polonsky, and their daughters, pianist Anna and violinist Olga.
Special guests include pianist Orion Weiss and cellist Stephan Koncz.

The program will feature works by Mendelssohn, Schubert, Ravel, Kreisler, Tchaikovsky, and Brahms. This concert is dedicated to the memory of our friend, David Shmookler, Principal Violist in the Columbus Symphony Orchestra for 25 years.
