Film Review: Tangled
Listen to the Story
Starring: Mandy Moore, Zachary Levi, Donna Murphy
Genre: Animation, Family, Musical, 3D
Rating: Rated PG for brief mild violence.
Rico: Tangled comes to us by way of Walt Disney Pictures, and is a re-telling of Rapunzel. Rapunzel (voiced by Mandy Moore) has been kidnapped and kept prisoner in a remote tower where her hair has grown to 70 feet.
Joyce: This very funny fairy tale is definitely an updated version. Rapunzel has been a captive since she was a baby by a wicked sorceress, voiced effectively by Donna Murphy.
Rico: Flynn Rider (Zachary Levi) arrives on the scene as her “Prince Charming.” But he isn’t a prince; he is a charming thief. The pair make good her escape with the assistance of a funny horse who can’t help but steal the show. The trio is rounded out by a chameleon who had become Rapunzel’s only pal.
Joyce: The horse’s antics are hilarious. And the chameleon comes along for the ride and adds to the humor.
Rico: The animation is what one would expect from Disney — lush and colorful. It’s a pleasure to watch. ***1/2
Joyce: The 3D is fine, even if it isn’t essential. This certainly for kids but adults won’t be bored. ***1/2
