Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams: Make Your Own at Home
Do you love Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams? Jeni Britton Bauer, founder and owner of Jeni’s Ice Cream, joined All Sides with Ann Fisher on Thursday to talk about her new book, “Jeni’s Splendid Ice Cream at Home.”
Jeni has been making ice cream from scratch for more than 15 years, and continues to experiment with new flavors to create the best flavor possible. Jeni said the keys to the best possible ice cream are taste, texture, consistency, and finish.
“I’m constantly trying new textures and flavors,” Jeni said. “Looking for new ways of making ice cream.”
Jeni has eight locations in Columbus, one in Cleveland, and one more opening soon in Nashville.
Jeni’s Ice Cream In Your Home
Now the ability to create your own ice cream is possible in your own home with Jeni’s debut cookbook. “Jeni’s Splendid Ice Cream at Home.” (not yet in stores, but available to WOSU listeners!).
“I wrote it almost as a love letter to our community,” Jeni said.
Jeni said she tweaked the recipe for home cooking, making the process easier without compromising the flavor. Jeni said the flavor you can make at home is almost “indistinguishable” from the ice cream she makes in her professional kitchen.
This week is WOSU’s spring pledge drive, and with your $120 pledge to WOSU, you can get a signed copy of Jeni’s new cookbook, “Jeni’s Splendid Ice Cream at Home”.
“I believe you have to build the community you want to build,” Jeni said. “We have a community here that needs support… whether its giving ice cream, money, or time.”
Included in your signed copy of “Jeni’s Splendid Ice Cream at Home” is a Trio Card, good for three scoops of Jeni’s Ice Cream.
