Columbus is known for college football and the Ohio State Buckeyes, right? But did you know the first NFL headquarters was a stone’s throw away from the Ohio Statehouse.

WOSU Public Media’s After The Score talked with Chris Willis, author of “The Man Who Built The National Football League: Joe F. Carr” about Columbus’ ties to the NFL. Willis is the head of the Research Library at NFL Films as well as a Columbus native.

He has also written “The Columbus Panhandles: A Complete History of Pro Football’s Toughest Team, 1900-1922″ and
“Old Leather: An Oral History of Early Pro Football in Ohio, 1920-1935.”
