COLUMBUS, OHIO, June 24, 2013 Beginning Monday, July 1, 89.7 NPR News, the all-day NPR news radio station of WOSU Public Media, will air the new program “Here & Now“ weekday afternoons from 2 to 4 p.m. A live production from NPR and WBUR-Boston, ‘Here & Now’ will reflect the fluid world of news as it’s happening, with timely, smart and in-depth news and conversation.
The program will serve as a bridge in midday, between NPR’s signature news magazines, ”Morning Edition” and ”All Things Considered”. The program’s daily lineup will include interviews with NPR hosts, reporters, editors and bloggers as well as news from stations across the nation.
“Here & Now” is hosted by Robin Young, a Peabody Award winning journalist, who has reported for NBC, CBS and ABC television, and was substitute host and correspondent for ”The Today Show”. Young will be joined by co-host Jeremy Hobson, familiar to 89.7 NPR News listeners as the host of “Marketplace Morning Report”. Hobson has broad producing, reporting and hosting experience at the station, program and network levels.
“Here & Now” replaces “Talk of the Nation” Monday through Thursday. On Friday afternoons, 89.7 NPR News will continue to air the popular program “Science Friday”, with host Ira Flatow. “Talk of the Nation” ends production this month and host Neal Conan will now step away from the daily news grind. The political wit and wisdom of “Political Junkie” Ken Rudin will still be heard as he is slated to appear on the locally produced public affairs program, “All Sides with Ann Fisher.”
89.7 FM NPR News is the only all-day NPR news radio station in central Ohio and specializes in news and public affairs programming. Live audio streaming of the station is also available at wosu.org and through the new mobile app. WOSU Public Media is a community-supported, noncommercial network of public radio and television stations.
